Owing to these developments, many homes have computers and smart phones. These expose kids to the internet at an early age. The need for parents to know what and where their children are have necessitated them to purchase phones for them. However, these only expose them to other dangers of technology like having access to adult sites, sending and receiving sexual content and communicating with strangers. It is thus essential for parents to install child monitoring software on gadgets used by youngsters.

Cyber bullying has become an online nightmare for both kids and their parents. This type of bullying is not so different from traditional bullying since it leaves the same psychological scars on victims. The difference is that it uses online media to target victims on either social media or other chat rooms. Many times children do not report these cases to parents until it is too late or something tragic happens.

Kids should not spend too much time on the Internet. Today, social media has taken up the traditional role of socializing with other people. Many people prefer to spend time chatting and posting pictures on sites like Facebook and Instagram. Parents need to limit time spent online to allow for other activities that require social interaction.
