Some companies are still using ingredients that are not only deemed as unhealthy but are considered to be dangerous. Additives and preservatives of various sorts often top the list but there is another one that people are learning more about. This product is known as trans fat. While there are fewer items being made with this substance, some of the most commonly consumed foods are.

The oils that are on the list of unhealthy ingredients are linked to inflammation, higher levels of bad cholesterol and lowered levels of good cholesterol. As a result, it is also linked to heart disease and similar conditions. To avoid such a risk, there are a number of goods that you might want to eliminate from your diet.

Often, restaurants used hydrogenated vegetable oil which means they have trans fat. Because this type of information isn't always readily available at the diners, you may be best to avoid them all.

Pie is another good that can have a lot of trans fat in it. However, these pies are not those sold in the fast food restaurants. They are actually the options found in local grocery stores. You can find out for sure by looking for hydrogenated oils on the label. Most of these goods include that type of oil but there may be a select few that do not.

There are other simple foods that have these fats in them. These are items commonly found in homes. Perhaps the most common goods include margarine, cooking oil, and shortening. However, some dairy based products like frosting, creamers and ice cream are also made with the compound. Even microwave popcorn often includes it. If you want to be healthier, you may want to avoid these goods as well as the others listed.

You can often avoid buying goods with the substance by not purchasing products with hydrogenated oils.
