By Iva Cannon

Getting a pet is a good thing. You will have a loyal companion you can spend time with. The pet is also your source of comfort in you distressed times. In exchange for the companionship these animals give you, you should make sure to treat them well. You have to become a responsible owner in charge of these animals.

You have to protect you pet from any dangers that might come. For example, you might meet with poisonous reptiles that threaten to bite your pet. If this happens, you have to take actions immediately. If you happen to have your dog bit by snake San Diego, then here are some tips you can take action with.

First, you should get the proper vaccine for your pet. There are vaccines that are meant for dogs who get bitten by snakes. They are made from the venom of these reptiles. Through the vaccines, when the dogs are bitten, the reaction to the said bite will be significantly reduced and the effect will be delayed.

You have to make the pets wear the right leash when you are walking them. It makes it easier for you and your pet to avoid this poisonous animal when you put them on their six-foot leash instead of other alternatives like the flexi-lead. It is said that majority of those bitten by snakes are those that are off-leash or on flexi-lead.

There are areas during the walk that you should avoid. You have to avoid those dense bushes and rocky areas. Grassy areas are also not good for your walk. After all, these are places that most snakes hide at. You have to follow the proper trail and choose wide roads instead of brush-bordered trails when walking.

Snake-proof the yard. While most of the pet owners think about fencing the yard to keep their dogs safely in, that is not enough to keep the ophidians out. You should fortify it so that the snakes do not get under the fencing. You can install a solid cement base or even use hardware cloth along the base to fortify the fencing against snakes.

There are various symptoms you can see when your pet gets bitten. Through these visible symptoms, you will get alerted about this particular emergency. You can then do something about it. You can give the bitten dogs the appropriate first-aid treatment they need. After that, you can swiftly bring the animal to the vet.

Encountering the said reptile when walking is not rare. That is why you should remain to stay calm. Do not panic since your nervousness can transfer to your pets. Just slowly and calmly back away from the reptile until you are out of its striking distance. You have to leave the area as well since there might be more hiding there.

If, unfortunately, the canine pet gets bitten by the said ophidian, then carry the canine pet to the car. If it is impossible for you to carry the canine pet without any struggles, then just walk them to the car. The bottom line is to limit the canine's activity to prevent the venom from spreading. Get them to the vet immediately.
