Database For Florida Criminal Records

By Claire Dowell

Florida Arrest Records are maintained at the Florida Department of Corrections. The records are available for public access because they are deemed as part of public records. To start a search, secure a request form at the department or download it from their official website and complete it with the necessary pieces of information. When completing the form, make sure that you are providing accurate information to have a better chance of finding the right records. There are certain fees that you need to pay to get the records. You can pay them either by money order or through a certified check. Note that once fees are settled, you will not be given a refund even if the records you requested for are not found.

Arrests are recorded even if they do not result to imprisonment. The name of the arrested person, nature of the crime, when and where the arrest was done, and the name of the arresting officer are just some of the information that you can find on an arrest record. If a person is proven not guilty of the crime charged against him or her, the records will not become available for public access.

You may request your own file especially if you want to check its details. If you identify anything that is inaccurate or not updated, you can notify the Department of Corrections about it so that the proper correction process can be done once they go over the documents.

The documents of other people can also be requested but it will be harder to get them because an authorization from the court is required and there are only a handful of people that are granted with such. In addition, the amount of information that one is given varies from situation to situation. Law enforcers and attorneys have are given authorization if they need for a crime investigation. Employers and landlords are only authorized if they use it to screen their applicants. Those that are about to enter marriage are also allowed to check the criminal background of their soon to be husband or wife.

Another source for arrest records are online service providers that are into the business of providing such records to the public. There are two kinds of service providers: fee-based and free service providers. If you go over the Internet, you will find that most of them will claim that they can provide you with high-quality records. However, do remember that not everything that is posted on the Internet is true. Prior to choosing which service provider to use, run a quick background check on them and gather as much information as you can. Go over user reviews and see if past clients were satisfied with the records they were provided with.

You can also get your hands on Free Public Criminal Records. Inquire in your area if there is an archive for them. If you do not find any, you can always conduct an online search. But do not assume that you will get an in-depth version of the files because if it is offered for free, it usually means that you will only be given limited information.
