Usage For Throw N Go Berm

By Estelle Larsen

Generally, a berm is a mound or technically an elevated space where it prevents a certain level or amount of water or any liquid from reaching the other area. This can take any form like earth, concrete, or any other materials that have the same structure and similar usage. This term was taken from the word berme in German which was later on used by the English through the French.

Containment berms have been utilized by mostly the electrical and the oil industry where equipment may have leaks and damages. In order to catch the spill and to have it secured to prevent damages to the environment, secondary spill containment is used. But there are types of containment berms that are even easier to use which is called a Throw N Go Berm.

A lot of containment berms have different types and including booms, too, but those are differently structured although they still have the same purpose. Concrete berms are the outdated way of containing possible leakage from transformers. While a boom can absorb these chemicals but lets the water pass through.

The assembly berm is used by most of the industries due to its flexibility and versatility, but its structure requires that it still needs to be installed. With the Throw N Go, you only need to unfold it and have the source of the possible spill or leak to be over it. It is quite quick and easy and there is no assembly required.

The equipment is made of heavy material so they would be able to withstand any pressure from the flowing liquid. They are able to hold various volumes of water, chemicals, and hydrocarbons. They come as well in different sizes whichever the need is necessary.

The equipment works when the flow of the water would push through the walls where it is initially flat on the ground along with its floor. This can also be placed at any angle or slope. You just need to unfold in on the ground and below the source.

It also comes along with a repair kit in order to fix minor damages of the equipment like patching up some areas. Because this type of berm does not have working parts, it has lesser chance in malfunctioning. It is necessary before purchasing to check if the product is up to the guidelines by the EPA SPCC or the Environmental Protection Agency, Spill, Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure.

It takes only two or four men to have it installed and does not take that long, so it is rather easy and convenient. This may also be used in cases of emergencies, of course. The equipment may come with additional stuff depending on the package that you chose from the manufacturer, so the prices will also be different.

Online and local stores will be selling these depending on your location and what the manufacturers have in stock and which type and design you need. This design would provide you with a lot of ease from installing it, also it is very low maintenance with less chances of failing. It would be much better to also check out the ratings, reviews, and quality of the products before deciding.
