Free Access To California Arrest Records

Everywhere we go, we feel unsecured because of the crimes we hear on the news daily. California criminal records are made open to the public to make the people more aware and be wary of their safety and security.

Criminal records in California are used when conducting a background check on certain individuals. This is done mostly by company owners. They do this to make sure that the people who work for them have clean criminal history and are qualified for the job. By doing so, the company can avoid problems from arising within the company. Ordinary residents of California would also look into the criminal history of the people around them especially if they are new. The records of their nannies, tutors, neighbors, gardeners, friends and even their relatives are being checked to make sure that they are with people who they can trust. It is also used as reference when authorities conduct an investigation. There are even times when the document would serve as evidence presented during court hearings.

The public access of the criminal records of California has helped much business to be stable; however, people who have a previous record find it difficult to live their life normally. Some employers would not look into the resume of people who has had a criminal history. These individuals have felt somehow discriminated because they cannot get a decent job or the promotion they deserved. This can be avoided if the individual chose to expunge their criminal records from the state archive.

Criminal records would contain the information about the crimes that an individual has committed. It would show all the crimes and offenses that the individual has been reported for. Any charges that were filed against the person are also documented on the file along with the sentence given. In cases where the person was not convicted for the crime, a record is still generated for documentation purposes.

In order to request for a criminal record in California, one has to go to the Public Records Ombudsman in the state. The said office is responsible for keeping the criminal records of the state. One has to prepare a retrieval fee since it is not always the same because it cost 10 cents per page. One has to fill out the application form provided by the office with the basic information of the file being requested in order to proceed with the request. The requesting individual is also requested to indicate their contact details on the request form in order to be granted access to the file. The office also accepts mailed in request but it takes 10 days before the results will be delivered back to the sender. This can be delayed even more if the requirements and needed information is incomplete.

The police reports public record that can be obtained in California is also now available online. This means that the residents of the state can request it anytime and anywhere since it is done electronically. There is no need to wait for days since the needed information can be obtained in just a few clicks on the mouse. Going to the office is eliminated in this manner thus avoiding the hassle of lining up.
