San Antonio Headache Sufferers Find Relief Through Chiropractic Care

By Hans Gerhard

Headaches come in a number of types. The pain they bring ranges from moderate to excruciating. The migraine headache is so severe that it prevents people from being able to go to work. Those living in the area can find pain alleviation in the offices of a prominent San Antonio Chiropractor.

There are general questions to answer that help identify the type you have. For a migraine, you must have gone through at least five of these episodes. They lasted at least seventy-two hours and not less than four hours. Your head will have throbbed with pain, most often on one side of the head. Sensitivity to lights and sounds or nausea and vomiting accompany the throbbing.

It sounds sensible that a sinus headache would go along with a sinus infection. It happens independently, however. The tension version is felt as a constant ache. It causes pressure around the head and back of the neck. It is thought to be caused by stress and possibly a chemical alteration in the brain.

More women have migraines and more men have cluster headaches. These are intense, with disabling pain on one side of the head. Clusters may have a runny nose and watery eye on the side of the face affected by the cluster pain. These happen on a schedule or clump.

One of the reasons chiropractic care is popular is because there is no medication used. The rebound headache is the direct result of using an excessive amount of pain medication. Relying on spinal adjustments and massage avoids becoming addicted, or causing a rebound headache.

As your chiropractor evaluates you, questions help to arrive at the correct conclusion. The type of headache indicates the course of care that will facilitate pain alleviation. When manual adjustments are found to be appropriate, a series of appointments are set up for them. Massage may be added to the care plan.

Chiropractic care has a beneficial after effect. Once the series of adjustments are finished, it is not likely the headaches will happen as frequently. Plus, the ones that do occur are less severe.
