Guidelines For Your Firm To Send Out Holiday Ecards

By Brenda Wright

One of the best business practices is showing your customers that you care about them. You can do this by sending them holiday ecards from time to time. So as to maximize the effect that the cards have on the recipients, there are a couple of key things that you should do.

Come up with the list of people that you want to mail. You can separate this list into two. One list for your clients and another list for your vendors. You have to design two different cards for each list. Do not mail a similar card with a similar message to all of them since they serve two very different purposes for your organization. It is also best that you include only people that you are in good terms with in this list.

Personalization gets better response rates than generalized cards. Customize the card by including the name of the recipient on the card. You can also write a customized message for everyone on their cards. This may take a long time but it will make the recipients happier. Just write something short and meaningful, based on how you relate with the person.

Send the cards on time. Don't send them too early or too late. If it doesn't arrive on time then its impact will be lost. In order for you not to be late, you need to design or acquire the cards much earlier than you actually need them. This way, when the card is due to be sent it will be already ready.

Don't send a promotional message. Stick to the main issue, which is, sending good wishes to the person. If you market to them then you will lose their interest as you will not seem genuine. Avoid sending discount codes and special offers together with the card.

Don't go overboard and make things complicated. Simple messages work just as well. Also, as much as you can hire a designer to create a card, you can also come up with a simple one on your own. Use the right elements, words and colors and you will get the attention of your recipients.

When writing out the message, be generic. This is because people have different religious affiliations and different beliefs. If your beliefs do not appeal to them, then you will repel them. That is why it is best to keep things general in your messages. Do not lean towards any religion or philosophy.

Sending out these cards is a good way to strengthen the relationship that you have with stakeholders in your organization. Keep sending out cards on a regular basis. Even if most of the people do not respond, they still take note of your cards, so you should not be discouraged. Given the cost of acquiring a new customer, it is better that you do all you can to maintain them once you acquire them.
