Looking For A Right Hand Drive Camaro Conversion

By Jennifer Burns

If you are moving to a foreign country where they drive on the right hand side a lot drivers will have their vehicles controls moved to the other side of the car. If you are looking for a right hand drive camaro conversion there are a few options available to you. It is not against the law to drive the car as standard but making these changes should make your driving experience much more comfortable.

Converting a car from left to right hand drive is not as easy as swapping some parts to the other side. The main controls such as pedals and steering wheel will have to be moved across as well as some switches and trim. The car will also need work underneath and the brakes and suspension will need some adjustments to ensure they operate safely.

The cheapest method when getting a conversion done is to purchase a kit and carry out the modification work yourself. This will be a cost effective way to convert a car and there are packages made for the Chevrolet camaro. You need to bear in mind that the end results when using a DIY kit will be pretty crude with metal levers and other components left exposed.

When searching for your kit, some of the internet auto parts retailers are the best place to begin. These online suppliers will have kits in stock for different models of camaro and they can be shipped to your home with full instructions. As well as the parts, some other tools and garage equipment may also be needed to get the job done and you kit supplier should be able to supply these items.

The preferred way of getting conversions done is to hand your vehicle over to a professional company. There are companies who can do this work and their final results will be of a high standard. It will obviously cost more than the basic kit conversion but it will be well worth it as the modification work will be covered by their guarantee.

When having your modifications done by a professional team, the results will be significantly better than you will get from any kit. All mechanical components that are fitted will be hidden from view and the vehicle will look as though it is original. Most firms will offer aftercare and can continue to maintain your vehicle after the work has been done.

Whichever way the conversion is done the vehicle will need to be properly inspected by an engineer to make sure it complies with safety regulations. If the vehicle has been converted by technicians it should be returned to you with documents confirming that it has passed these inspections. If the conversion has been done as a DIY project, the vehicle can be taken in for the safety checks afterwards.

If you make any alterations to vehicle the original Chevrolet warranty will no longer be valid. Another important thing to bear in mind is that value of your car will probably be lower and it could be more difficult to sell. After having modifications to your vehicle you are required by law to notify your insurance company and there will usually be some changes to your premiums
